Mali Blog

So after all this time it appears I'm finally making my way to Africa. Somewhere around the beginning of May I received my invitation to join the Peace Corps to serve a tour in Tanzania in the Environmental Education and Sustainable Agriculture program. I was very excited and ready to go, but unfortunetly it didn't work out. Due to staffing problems half my group was cut and I was among them. However, they offered me a new assignment in Mali. The job will be along the same lines as the Tanzania job, just in a whole new part of Africa. So that's where I'm headed. My departure date is July 17th and it can't come quick enough even though there is so much to do before I go.
One thing I really want to do while I'm there is keep my friends and family informed on my experiences during my time in the Peace Corps. Hopefully through this thing I can do just that. Those who are interested can come and read and hopefully leave me some notes on what they think. My goal is to write on here on a somewhat regular basis, depending on how hard it is to access the Internet. So please bare with me through spelling errors and run on sentences. July 17th my adventure begins!

Hey buddy, SO HAPPY FOR YOU
Well we have three of us Grandchildren that have made it to Africa. Something about it draws us and the unknown makes it special. Now the same as your sister you will be able talk to other world travelers and understand life and what soooo many Americans dont get anywhere except news. CONSUME it all in it will change your life forever. Eric VG
